METHOD 1 - Measure the circumference of your finger

STEP 1: Find a piece of string or strip of paper no wider than 1.4 cm (1/2 inch).

STEP 2: Wrap it around the base of the finger you would like the ring to sit on.

STEP 3: Use a pen to mark the point on the string/paper where it overlaps, forming a complete circle around your finger.

STEP 4: With a tape measure or ruler, measure the length from the end of the string/paper to the pen mark.

STEP 5: Use the chart below to determine your UK ring size.

METHOD 2 - Measure the diameter of rings you already own

STEP 1: Lay out a tape measure or ruler on a flat surface. It’s best to use a flat ruler or tape measure so that a ring can sit level on top.

STEP 2: Place a ring you already own that fits the finger you want to wear your desired ring on, on top of the tape measure or ruler.

STEP 3: Calculate the diameter in mm between each inside edge of the ring on opposing sides.

STEP 4: Use the ring size chart above to find your UK size.

Some things to remember:

  • If your knuckle is a little wider than the base of your finger, you may want to order a size up from the measured size. To double check if a ring will be able to slide on and off over your knuckle, try sliding the string/paper over your knuckle once you’ve measured.

  • To ensure accuracy, measure your finger multiple times at different points in the day. Your finger is smallest when you’re cold and largest when you’re hot, usually at the end of the day. It’s recommended to measure your finger 3 or 4 times and take the average reading.

  • It’s important to work out which finger you’ll want to wear the ring you’re buying on as each finger can vary in size. For example, if you’re buying a statement ring, you’ll likely wear it on your ring, middle or index finger. If you’re buying a stacking ring or medi ring, you might want to wear it half way up your finger or on your thumb.
